Inner Pilgrim | Travel Guide to Your Soul

View Original

Who unveils your soul, reflecting your essence back at you?

Written to inspire and lift you up, so you can do the same for others.

Who inspires you
To expand, grow, develop?
Who lifts you up?

Do you have role models?
Like the posters in your bedroom
When you were a teenager,
But the ‘grown-up’ version of it.
Someone who truly inspires you.

I often ask my clients.
Sometimes I get a Bill Gates type answer.
Or a big question mark.
Occasionally a warm grandmother.

Maybe it’s not something
We often think about.
But allow yourself a moment,
Ideas and inspiration will bubble up
And names will start to flow.

I believe it is really helpful
To be conscious of our role models.
They inspire us, they show us by example,
To grow into a bigger version
Of ourselves.
They mirror to us what is possible.
A latent potential inside ourselves.
We recognise it in the other,
Because it is present in us too.

So I invite you to ask yourself
"Who inspires me?"
It could be someone who passed away,
Someone you never even met,
A stray cat, or childhood dog,
Your grandfatherr, your child,
Yoga teacher, a neighbour,
A totem animal, your (adoptive) parents
That stranger during a holiday,
A religious figure, an activist or artist,
Someone's whose podcasts you love.
Who knows, could be a tree!

Then inquire,
"What about them touches me?"
Reflect on their qualities.
I mean their characteristics,
Aspects of their personality.
What you admire about them.

It's about their essence,
Their way of being.
How you feel around them.

You see,
Role models awaken our latent potential.
They touch something that is present
Inside of us,
That longs to be set free,
To be known,
To be expressed.

When we connect with it
It resonates on a very deep level.

When it happens
In a coaching or therapy session
Both my client and I can feel it.

It's right there
All of a sudden
A glimpse
A felt sense of something special,
Something somehow 'bigger'.

That is who you truly are….

Often my clients well up,
Their heart breaks open.
Really? Can I live like that?
Is that me? Is that possible?
Can I feel and be like that?

It is a sacred inner journey
To the core of our being.

And those who inspire us
Can bring us closer.
Can show by example
Can guide the way,
Simply by their way of being.
It’s about how we become,
When we connect with them.

Just in case, I don't mean
That we have to change
Because the current version
Of ourselves isn't good enough.
That is totally not the point.
Then we just bully ourselves.
It becomes a motivation of fear
And self-critizism.

I mean to change
Because we feel so inspired
In awe of what is possible...
What we can grow into,
Who we could become...
Who we already essentially are….

It's a longing
A love,
A yearning of the heart to expand,
To blossom,
To unfold into something
Beyond our imagination.
Yet we connect with it
Acutely, naturally, almost effortlessly
When our heart merges
With the potential
That is brought to our awareness
By those who already know.

And then our presence alone
Becomes an inspiration for others.

May you always
Feel loved and inspired,
Karin xx

I wonder, would you like to share
Your rolemodels
And their qualities with me?
