It's about that "NO"

When i could have kissed a cute israeli YOUNG MAN…

I'm going to share a story with you.
Bear with me, important clue follows.

In 2006 (gosh how young I was!)
I went on a much needed break to Nepal.
The first evening I saw a cute
But slightly macho Israeli guy
It was clear he was in for a kiss
Part of me thought "why not".
But then another inner voice came
Load and clear:
"That is not why you came to Nepal.
An empty kiss from a stranger
Will not get you what you really want.
"
So I friendly declined.

The evening after
I walked into the same pub
And spotted the guy from last night
If I would have said yes to his kiss
I would have felt obliged
To join him and his friends tonight.
But as it was,
I felt free to smile and walk on.

I sat down at the bar.
Looked to my right.
And there he was.

Black wild curly hair,
A friendly face,
Kind eyes...
I liked him instantly.
This was different,
I knew it in my soul.

15 months later this man
Who happened to be Argentinan
And this Dutch lady (me!),
Who met on the top of the world
In the Himalayas in Nepal,
(What are the odds!)
Became husband and wife.

Now why am I telling you this?
It's about that NO.

When I said no
To the (I believe) shallow intentions
Of the first guy,
I said yes to myself
And yes to what I truly wanted.
I didn't need an empty kiss.
I knew I needed to heal,
From a tough time at work.
I longed for a deeper connection
Both with myself, and with others.

Now why am I telling you this?
It's about that NO.

My question for you is
"Where do you need to say no
In order to say yes to yourself?"

What is no longer serving you?
What needs to be let go of?
What is not going to get you
What you truly want?

Dare to say no
In order to say yes.

With love,

Karin xxx

P.S.

And here's me at that bar in Kathmandu, Nepal
Back in 2006 (lol, so young!)
And look at the sign behind me :)

It says “Life is full of difficult decisons”.

There is no such thing as coincidence.
